Journey into the practice of Miksang contemplative photography

My name is Charles Blackhall and I am a Miksang teacher here in Canada although I teach anywhere...most recently out of Los Angeles.

I found my way to Miksang thru convention photography. I had a studio and helped to set up Victoria's one and only photographic fine art gallery there.

On the occasion of visiting the other coast of Canada and being a student of Buddhism and contemplative ways, I found myself in Halifax, Nova Scotia. There I discovered Miksang and I have been practising, studying, and eventually teaching that for the past 25 years. Thanks to the generosity of my teachers and their inspiration,

I continue to study and learn the deeper layers and inner teachings of this contemplative art and am pleased to be asked to share this path with anyone who is curious.  I would say that Miksang has enriched my life. It has certainly made me a more cheerful and open person.  Open in the sense of what it is to be human and live at this time in the phenomenal world with all the existential issues we are working with as a global human society.  Miksang and the community of teachers and students that I have encountered has been a genuinely delightful experience.

Now as this website is up and running thanks to the exertion of Jessica (herself an amazing teacher) as well as the pioneers John and Miriam who have brought this to this point with their dedication and many years of experience. Various trained teachers like myself are taking their seats in this mandala of instructors and sharing what they have learned to a broader audience of people who are seeking a deeper connection and creative ways to work with their world.

Thank you, I look forward to meeting you along the way.   Charles Blackhall
