BASICS:
This is a program which is later being
presented at
Dorje Denma Ling in
Nova Scotia. We have the very fortunate
opportunity to
meet with John
McQuade (who lives in Toronto) here in the
Midwest of the US for the same
course content.
This retreat is a great opportunity for Miksang students and teachers to study the lessons of nature in a deeper way, as well as the lay person or poet to experience another approach to contemplation.
No prerequisites are required.
ON THE VIEW OF THE PROGRAM:
For timeless generations contemplative
artists engaged
the Way of Nature as
a direct access to "Ordinary
Magic". Miksang
(GoodEye) Contemplative
Photography and haiku are Ways of Seeing
that manifest
this timeless moment
of creation and ordinary enlightenment. In
this
workshop we will enter the
intimacy of Nature's sacred teachings
and engage
the profundity of Heaven,
Earth and Man Landscapes.
John McQuade is a founder of Miksang and teaches contemplative art and photography at the University of Toronto.
LOGISTICS:
Aldo Leopold Nature Center has only a couple
of
private rooms. Most
sleeping situations are in larger group
setting. This
is a part of the
lowered cost of the retreat. If you are
interested in
other accommodations,
please ask. Local B&B's, hotels and
camping
are available as alternatives.
The center is located in the driftless region of southwestern Wisconsin, a truly beautiful and relatively untouched area. The center has 200 acres of hiking trails and bluffs, and is located in the middle of an area of beautiful landscape. For those coming in from out of town, housing may be available the night before (Friday) in Madison, WI. Carpooling is more than welcome - please let Miriam Hall know if you are in need of it.
We will provide lunch and dinner on Saturday, as well as breakfast and lunch on Sunday. Plenty of snacks and healthy foods will be available at all times.
Blankets, towels, sheets, beds and pillows are all provided.
To attend this program, you will need a digital camera and a basic familiarity with delivering an accurate image.
Once registration is closed, we will send you more information on the schedule, directions, carpooling and suggested "to bring" lists.
